Our initial plan to take a detour south through Escalante—Grand Staircase National Monument was foiled—by torrential rain washing out Cottonwood Road.
We formulated ‘Plan B’ when a couple we spoke to in Kodachrome Basin State Park motivated us to pay a visit to Capitol Reef National Monument. A quick look at a map showed an enticing looking road heading south through there, so we decided that would be the best route to take.
(more…)We managed to escape the irresistible gravitational pull of Santa María del Tule.
Well. Sort of escape.
We’ve archived our stories and photos from our three year road trip from Deadhorse, Alaska, USA to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego Argentina here:

Excited for you 🙂
Pat
Thanks, hope to see you on the road in Alaska perhaps?
What Cities are you going to in Alaska? I can check what days we’ll be in them 🙂
We aren’t exactly sure yet, we know we’ll be in Anchorage from 21-31 May.
From there we may be heading up through Fairbanks then on to Deadhorse, but we’ll also take some time to explore Denali National Park either on the way to or from Fairbanks.
We’re also interested in exploring the Kenai Peninsula and there are several roads that sound amazing to drive.
So as you can see, we don’t really have a plan, we might have a better idea closer to the time… or we may still be winging it! (Probably still winging it)
But if you have any places on your list that you reckon we really shouldn’t miss in Alaska, please let us know 🙂
